Pastels
A Sennelier extra soft pastel is a high-quality pure pigment finely ground with a natural binder. The high-quality composition is the result of the perfect balance between binder and pigment. For graduated shades, increasing amounts of white are added to the original pigment. The manufacturing process does not involve any compression on the pastels as they are dried naturally in open space.

In 1949 Sennelier started developing a range of artists quality pastels for the famous artist Pablo Picasso. Picasso was looking for a pastel with intense colour that could be applied directly and freely to a wide variety of surfaces. As a result Sennlier created an oil pastel with a soft creamy quality with all the intensity and vibrancy of conventional oil colours. However, unlike oil colours Sennlier oil pastels are made using a unique combination of non aggressive oils and waxes so they can be used on almost any surface, including paper without cracking or affecting the substrate. All 120 colours are 100% lightfast making the Sennelier oil pastel range probably the only true artist quality oil pastel in the world.
Pen and Ink
Artists quality inks for illustration, painting and calligraphy. Pigment based inks offer excellent lightfastness and permanance while dye based colours give more brilliant colour but poorer lightfastness. Inks containing shellac are generally water resistant and in some cases such as India inks completely indelible and waterproof. Non shellac based inks give an effect similar to watercolour and will bleed and mix on the surface.
